General
What is AIDA? AIDA (Autafy Intelligence Driven Agent) is a personal AI agent that connects to your email, calendar, files, and tools. It runs on your own server — self-hosted, private, and fully under your control. Built by Autafy.
What can AIDA do? AIDA can read and send emails, manage your calendar, search the web, handle tasks, remember your preferences, run scheduled automations, and much more. See the Available Tools page for the full list.
Is my data private? Yes. Your emails, conversations, memories, and settings are stored on AIDA's secure server. They are never shared with Autafy or any third party. Your AI model provider (e.g. OpenRouter) receives only the text of your chat messages — not your emails or files.
What AI model does AIDA use? AIDA uses whichever model you configure in Settings. By default it connects to OpenRouter, which gives you access to hundreds of models — many of them free. You can also use your own key with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI or Ollama Cloud, and you can change your model anytime. For free, fully private models on your own computer, AIDA supports Ollama and LM Studio.
Does AIDA work on mobile? Yes. The web interface works on mobile browsers. You can also connect Telegram for a native mobile experience — see the Telegram Bot Setup guide.
Pricing and Licensing
How long is the free trial? New accounts include a 7-day free trial with full access to all features.
What happens when the trial expires? AIDA will show a license activation screen. Enter a valid license key to continue. Visit autafy.ca to purchase.
Where do I get a license key? Visit autafy.ca to purchase a license.
How much does AIDA cost to run? After purchasing a license, your only ongoing cost is your AI model usage. Free models cost nothing. With paid models, you pay your provider directly for only what you use — there's no markup from Autafy, and the cost depends entirely on your model choice and how much you chat.
AI Models
Do I need to pay for an AI model? No — OpenRouter offers many completely free models with no credit card required. Free models have daily usage limits; if you need more, adding a small amount of credit to your OpenRouter account raises them.
Can I use my own API key from Anthropic or OpenAI directly? Yes. AIDA supports OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google AI Studio as providers. Switch providers in Settings → LLM Provider.
Can I run a local AI model? Yes. AIDA supports Ollama and LM Studio for running models locally on your own computer — completely free. See the Local AI guides for setup instructions.
Which model is best? It depends on your needs. For general use, any of the free models on OpenRouter work well. For complex tasks involving many tools, a larger model (7B+ parameters) gives better results. Use the model picker in Settings to explore options.
Integrations
How do I connect Google? See the Google Workspace Setup guide in the sidebar. You need a free Google Cloud project.
How do I connect Microsoft 365? See the Microsoft 365 Setup guide in the sidebar. You need a free Azure app registration.
Can I connect other tools? Yes. AIDA supports MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, allowing you to connect Slack, Notion, GitHub, and many other tools. See Adding Custom Tools for details.
Does AIDA support multiple users? Yes. AIDA has a full multi-user system. Each user has their own conversations, memories, cron jobs, and API keys. Admins can manage users from the Admin Panel.
Technical
What database does AIDA use? SQLite — a single config.db file that is easy to back up.
Can I self-host AIDA? AIDA is self-hosted by default. Install it on your own server with one command — see the install guide at autafy.ca/aida-install/docs. Licenses available at autafy.ca/pricing.
What is MCP? Model Context Protocol — an open standard for connecting AI agents to external tools. AIDA uses MCP for custom tool integrations, connecting to external services like Slack, Notion, and GitHub. (AIDA's built-in plugins are a separate, simpler system — see Available Tools.)
How do I back up my data? Back up the aida-data folder at /home/ubuntu/aida-data/. It contains your database (config.db), installed plugins, and uploaded Knowledge Base files — so this one folder preserves everything: conversations, memories, settings, and configuration.
