Memory System

What is Memory?

AIDA's memory system lets the agent remember important information about you across all conversations. Unlike a regular chat where context is lost when you close the window, AIDA's memories persist permanently and are available in every future conversation.

How Memory Works

Automatic Injection

AIDA automatically includes your saved memories at the start of every conversation. This means you never need to re-explain your preferences, context, or personal details — AIDA already knows.

When AIDA Saves Memories

AIDA only saves memories when you explicitly ask it to:

  • "Remember that I prefer concise responses"
  • "Save this — I always check inbox only, not all mail"
  • "Remember my wife's birthday is March 15th"

AIDA does not automatically save things from your emails, calendar, or tool results. You are always in control of what gets remembered.

When AIDA Uses Memories

Before answering personal questions or using tools like email and calendar, AIDA searches your memories for relevant preferences. For example, if you have a memory saying "always fetch emails from in:inbox", AIDA will use that filter automatically.

Add a Memory via Chat

Just tell AIDA to remember something:

  • "Remember that I live in Edmonton, Alberta"
  • "Save this preference: always use bullet points in responses"
  • "Remember my OpenRouter key is running low — remind me to top up"

What to Save in Memory

Memories work best for information that applies across many conversations:

Preferences:

  • "I prefer concise, bullet-point responses"
  • "Always check in:inbox when fetching Gmail, not all mail"
  • "Use Edmonton timezone for all calendar events"

Personal context:

  • "I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada"
  • "My timezone is America/Edmonton (MDT)"
  • "I work in tech and prefer technical explanations"

Important facts:

  • "My wife's name is Sarah, birthday March 15th"
  • "Weekly team meeting every Monday at 10am"
  • "Always end email replies with my signature"

Tool preferences:

  • "Always search Google Drive in the AIDA folder first"
  • "When listing tasks, show due dates and priorities"

Tips

Keep memories focused — one fact per memory works better than long paragraphs. AIDA can search memories more effectively when each one is specific.

Update outdated memories — if something changes, delete the old memory and add a new one. AIDA uses all memories equally, so conflicting information can cause inconsistent behavior.

Memory limit — AIDA injects the most recent memories into each conversation. If you have many memories, the oldest ones may not always be included. Delete memories you no longer need.

Privacy — memories are stored securely on the server and are personal to your account. Other users cannot see your memories.
